| 3. Eco Structure magazine reports that 95% of "green" labeled consumer products are guilty of making misleading claims. We found that a large percentage of building product claims are also misleading. When we ask for recycled content facts, the product representatives often don't know or they just make an "off-the-cuff" estimate. When asked about total embodied energy in product manufacture process or location of raw material from which the product is made, we usually just get a blank stare! We've always worked hard to achieve maximum feasible environmental responsibility within budget and time constraints and all the misinformation and/or lack of information makes it even harder. |
